Alphabit writes: I have a 1961 Medio Balboa coin. It doesn’t specify it’s denomination. GR is 12.50 and UEY (?) is 0.900. Are these of any interest to collectors and if so is there much of a value for it? Thank you.
You have a 1961 Panama half balboa (medio is Spanish for half). These were struck for Panama by the United States Mint in Philadelphia on U.S. 90% silver planchets and are identical in size and weight as the Franklin half dollar that circulated in that year in the U.S. Value in average circulated condition is about bullion value (.36169 of a troy ounce of pure silver).
